Japan’s stainless steel imports & exports both decline in H1, 2019

According to the official report from Japan, the total imports of stainless steel products to Japan in the first half of this year was about 116,000 tons, decreased by 17.2% year on year.

Among them, the main supply country was South Korea, by 78,000 tons, followed by Taiwan’s 18,000 tons, and followed by China’s about 10,000 tons, all dropped by over 10% year on year.

On the other hand, the total exports of stainless steel products in Japan in the first half of this year was about 427,000 tons, dropped by 13.1%.

Among them, the main destination for the exports was China, with 76,000 tons, followed by South Korea’s 57,000 tons, and Thailand’s 49,000 tons, and Taiwan’s 28,000 tons, and the US with around 23,000 tons, all of them faced an over 10% decline.
