US April stainless steel imports hit 12-month high
According to data released by the Department of Commerce, the US imported 100,853 tons of stainless steel in April, up by 7% from 93,892 tons in March, reaching 12-month high.
The rise of stainless steel imports was boosted by the surged imports of hot rolled coils from Italy and line pipes from Japan and South Korea.
In April, the US imported 8,144 tons of hot rolled coils in April, jumping from 3,191 tons from March. Among them, 2,773 tons were from Italy.
In the given period of time, the country’s imports of line pipes totaled 3,801 tons, soaring from 449 tons in March. Among them, 2,045 tons were from Japan and 1,037 tons were from South Korea.
