Qatar schedules to build country’s new port with 3 tenders
It is reported that Qatar government schedules to construct the country’s new QAR 27 billion ports this year with three tenders to be granted.
As the local manufacturers and suppliers are unable to provide some of the equipment, the projects will be subject to competition with foreign companies due to the lack of local manufacturing of some of the equipment.
There are 15 separate projects so far have been implemented with the worth of QAR 8.5 billion.
In this year, 2012, there will be around 17 contracts to be released before the port project is finished in 2016.
Two major concluded contracts have been a QAR 3.2 billion deal with China Harbor and a second worth QAR 4.5 billion with Middle East Dredging Company.
