US stainless producers cut April alloy surcharges

It’s reported that most stainless producers in the US have cut the alloy surcharges for April in response to lower nickel prices.

It’s known that the cash nickel prices at LME decreased by 6.8% from a month earlier to US$8.79/lb. during the calculation period.

North American Stainless (NAS)’s April alloy surcharges for 304 grade stainless steel products are at US$0.9386/lb., decreasing by 5.6%; that for 201 grade materials is at US$0.6129/lb., down by 3.5%; that for 316 grade products is at US$1.355/lb., declining by 4.8% while that for 430 grade products is at US$0.2819/lb., up by 1.7%, all compared to that in a month earlier.

Meanwhile, Allegheny Ludlum, part of Allegheny Technologies Inc. (ATI)’s alloy surcharges for 304 grade stainless steel products are at US$0.9386/lb., down by 5.6%; that for 201 grade products is at US$0.6228/lb., decreasing by 3.3%; that for 316 grade materials is at US$1.355/lb., declining by 4.8% while that for 430 grade products is at US$0.2819/lb., increasing by 1.7%, all compared to that in the previous month.
