US stainless imports down by 3.1% y-o-y in last November
According to data released by the Specialty Steel Industry of North America (SSINA), the US imported 64,065 tons of stainless steel in last November, down by 3.1% in comparison of 66,127 tons in the same period of a year earlier.
Among them, 24,548 tons were stainless sheet and strip, decreasing by 35.4%; 21,368 tons were stainless plate, increasing by 99.6%; 11,173 tons were stainless bar, up by 2.8%; 2,615 tons were stainless rod, rising by 18%; 4,362 tons were stainless wire, up by 0.2%, all compared to that in the same period of 2010.
In last December, the US consumption of stainless totaled 191,202 tons, up by 8.3% in comparison of 176,512 tons in the same period of 2010.
The consumption of stainless sheet and strip totaled 119,231 tons, up by 2.8%; that of stainless plate was 41,031 tons, rising by 43%; that of stainless bar was 19,252 tons, down by 7.4%; that of stainless rod was 6,167 tons, increasing by 8.2% and that of stainless wire was 5,522 tons, surging by 3.6%, all compared to that in November, 2010.
