Turkish iron ore imports increase in Q1 y-o-y

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) statistics, Turkish iron ore imports increased by 40.2% year on year to around 1.6 million tons in March 2019. The import value was around US$156 million, up by 46% year on year.

In the first quarter of this year, Turkey imported around 2.8 million tons of iron ore, up by 15.7% year on year. The import value was around US$266 million, up by 20.1% year on year.

Among them, Brazil ranked first with the largest Turkish iron ore imports of around 1.6 million tons, increasing by 82.6% year on year; followed by Sweden with a total of approximately 565,000 tons; followed by South Africa with around 172,000 tons.
