Iran’s crude steel outputs surge by 7.6% y-o-y in first four months

According to statistics, Iran’s crude steel output exceeded 5 million tons during the first four months of this year began on March 20th, 2012, soaring by 7.6% year on year.
Mr. Vajihollah Jafari, the deputy industry minister of Iran predicted that Iran’s crude steel output would touch 55 million tons by 2025 from 12.7 million tons in 2010.
Also, Iran is expected to become the world’s main steel export by March, 2016, according Mr. Mehdi Ghazanfari Industry, Mine and Trade minister of Iran.
In addition, Mr. Hamidreza Taherizadeh, the vice chairman of the Association of Iranian Steel Producers said that Iran will become a self-sufficient steel producer in the following three years.
Mr. Hamidreza pointed out that Iran’s steel production surged by 5 million tons over the past two years to hit 17 million tons, in spite of global economic sanctions.
