Taiwan’s scrap import prices rise again
|
It’s reported that Taiwan’s scrap import prices have kept rising recently, driven by sharply surged international scrap prices.
This week, the quotes of the US container HMS 80:20 (1&2) to Taiwan are at US$399~US$405/ton C&F and the actual transaction prices are at US$397~US$398/ton C&F, rising by US$2~US$3/ton from a week earlier.
The Taiwanese rebar makers said that they’ve faced the loss of NT$500/ton when the scrap import prices were at US$395/ton C&F. Moreover, the loss has been enlarged to NT$600/ton when the scrap import prices came to US$397~US$398/ton C&F.
However, the Taiwanese steel mills have no choice but to accept the price rise in order to avoid suspending work.
