Japanese Tokyo Steel hikes scrap purchasing prices

Reportedly, Tokyo Steel announced to raise the scrap purchase prices by ¥1,500~¥2,000/ton from August 17th.
It decided to increase the scrap purchase prices by ¥2,000/ton at its Okayama plant and Takamatsu steel center respectively and to raise the prices by ¥1,500/ton at the other plants.
After the adjustment, the firm’s latest H2 scrap purchasing prices in Okayama plant is at ¥29,000~¥29,500/ton; that in Kyushu plant is at ¥29,000/ton; that in Tahara plant is at ¥29,000/ton; that in Utsunomiya plant is at ¥28,000/ton and that in Takamatsu steel center is at ¥27,500/ton.
It’s known that Tokyo Steel has remained its scrap purchasing prices unchanged at ¥25,500~¥27,500/ton for consecutive two months after the firm cut the prices by ¥500/ton on June 16th.
