Turkey’s H1 scrap imports soar by 13.6%

According to statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the country’s scrap imports totaled 1.98 million tons in June, rising by 0.8% from a month earlier and surging by 16.5% year on year.
In June, the average prices of the Turkish scraps were at US$444/ton, decreasing by US$2/ton from a month ago and falling by US$23/ton year on year.
In the first half of this year, Turkey’s scrap imports totaled 11.3 million tons, rising by 13.6% in comparison of that in the same period of a year earlier.
In the given period of time, the US was the largest scrap exporter to Turkey with 3.16 million tons; the UK was the second largest one with 1.12 million tons and Russia was the third largest one with 1.06 million tons.
