Japan’s H1 stainless steel imports fall by 4% y-o-y

According to data released by the Japanese customs, Japan’s imports of stainless steel totaled 90,072 tons in the first half of this year, falling by around 4% year on year.
Among them, 65,953 tons were from South Korea, decreasing by 8.6%; 5,418 tons were from China, rising by 12% and 9,123 tons were from Taiwan, increasing by 15%, all compared to that in the same period of a year earlier.
In the first six months of this year, the country’s exports of stainless steel totaled 601,500 tons, including 108,459 tons from South Korea, 122,938 tons from China and 67,882 tons from Taiwan.
