Japan’s June steel imports fall by 6.4% m-o-m

According to data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), Japan imported 644,000 tons of steel in June, falling by 6.4% from a month earlier and declining by 12.6% year on year.
Among them, 347,000 tons were carbon steel products, decreasing by 12.2%; 35,400 tons were specialty steel products, rising by 6.3%, both compared to that in a month earlier.
In June, South Korea was the largest importer of the Japanese steel products with 243,000 tons, decreasing by 8.5%; Taiwan was the second largest one with 71,000 tons, falling by 13.8% and China was the third largest one with 27,000 tons, declining by 37.3%, all compared to that in a month ago.
