Japan’s June scrap exports rise by 5% m-o-m
|
According to statistics released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance, the country exported 726,000 tons of scraps in June, surging by 91.7% year on year and rising by 4.8% from a month earlier, the highest level since this year.
Among them, 228,000 tons were to China, increasing by 22.2% and 26,000 tons were to Vietnam, rising by 14.2%, both compared to that in the same period of a year earlier.
In the first half of this year, Japan’s scrap exports amounted to 4.081 million tons, soaring by 68.5% year on year.
In the given period of time, South Korea was the largest importer of the Japanese scraps with 2.422 million tons, jumping by 81.3%; China was the second largest one with 1.482 million tons, increasing by 41.6%; Vietnam was the third largest one with 89,000 tons, surging by 628.5%, all compared to that in the same period of a year earlier.
It’s estimated that Japan’s scrap exports in the full 2012 would reach 8.16 million tons.
