Spain’s steel industry recycles 12.5 million tons in 2011

According to Spain’s steel association Unesid, the Spanish steel industry recycled 75% of its steel production in 2011. This rate tops all countries in Europe, European’s recycle rate is around 50% and the world’s recycle rate is less than 40%.
In 2011, the steel mills in Spain recycled 12.5 million tons, a volume surpass the total recycles of all other material such as glass, paper and plastic. 7.7 million tons corresponds to domestic recycles, 4.8 million tons were imported scraps.
