|
The president of National Institute of Steel Distributors (INDA), Carlos Loureiro, said to press that he expects Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) to increase the prices in August, following the steps of Usiminas and ArcelorMittal’s in early July. The two companies hiked its prices between 4% and 8%.
Loureiro said the domestic distributors are trying to overcome such increases and to keep their margin at 5%. However, he pointed out that the price increase will transfer to their customers when CSN following the increases.
The president said the price increase depends heavily on international price, which is in a downward trend. But even with such increases, the Brazilian steel prices are just the same as imported product, he added.
