Japan’s May crude stainless steel outputs fall by 13.3% m-o-m

According to statistics, the output of crude stainless steel produced by 7 major stainless producers in Japan totaled 290,191 tons in May, falling by 13.3% from a month ago.
Among them, only Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel (NSSC)’s Yawata and Yakin's Kawasaki increased the production; other units reduced the production.
According to the forecast made by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, the demand for special steel products from exporters will be weak in the third quarter while that from domestic sectors will remain firm, making the overall demand rise slightly from the second quarter.
