Ruukki’s Q2 operating profit slumps by 88.7% y-o-y

Finnish steelmaker Ruukki released its financial report for the second quarter and the first half of this year.
In the second quarter of this year, the firm’s operating profit was at €8 million, slumping by 88.7% year on year. The net sales revenues were at €740 million, up slightly by 1% in comparison of that in the same period of a year earlier.
In the first half of this year, Ruukki posted an operating loss of €8 million, declining from an operating profit of €96 million in the same period of the previous year. The net sales revenues were at €1.44 billion, rising by 2.5% year on year.
Ruukki stated that the order intake in the second quarter was at €755 million, increasing by 12% year on year. In the first six months of this year, the order intake was at €1.44 billion, rising by 7% year on year.
Meanwhile, its steel output decreased by 6.6% year on year to 594,000 in the second quarter of this year. In the first six months of this year, its steel output fell by 6.8% to 1.19 million tons.
In the second quarter, Ruukki’s capacity utilization rate was at 84% and its production was affected by two fires at Raahe Steel Works in Finland.
