Japan’s HR stainless steel output rises by 1.8% m-o-m in May
|
According to data released by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the country’s produced 242,862 tons of hot rolled (HR) stainless steel in May, down by 1.8% from a month earlier while decreasing from 242,193 tons in last May.
Among them, the production of chromium-based stainless steel totaled 112,318 tons, increasing by 5.1% month on month, including 94,434 tons of chromium alloy stainless steel and 17,884 tons of chromium molybdenum alloy stainless steel.
The production of nickel-based stainless steel was at 130,544 tons, down by 0.9% from a month earlier, including 3,714 tons of chromium-manganese alloy stainless steel; 78,375 tons of nickel-chromium alloy stainless steel and 48,455 tons of nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy stainless steel.
In the end of May, the stainless steel inventory in the Japanese stainless steel mills totaled 110,419 tons, down by 0.6% from a month earlier.
