Russia’s scrap exports drop in May
|
According to statistics, Russia exported 304,000 tons of scraps in May, down by 2% year on year and falling by 6.8% from a month earlier.
In May, Turkey was the largest destination of Russian scraps with 188,000 tons, increasing by 19.6%; South Korea was the second largest one with 38,000 tons, decreasing by 11.6%; Spain was the third largest one with 25,000 tons, declining by 27.6%, all compared to that in same period of a year earlier.
In the first five months of this year, Russia’s scrap exports totaled 1.58 million tons, increasing by 7.9% year on year.
In the given period of time, 798,000 tons were to Turkey, down by 1.3%; 303,000 tons were to South Korea, increasing by 31.1%; 141,000 tons were to Spain, falling by 24%, all compared to that in the same period of the previous year.
It’s estimated that Russia’s scrap exports would be at 3.79 million tons in the full 2012.
