South Korea’s steel pipe exports soar substantially in first five months

According to data released by the Korea Iron and Steel Association (KOSA), South Korea’s exports of steel pipes totaled 1,145,838 tons in the first five months of this year, surging by 23.1% year on year.
It’s analyzed that the increased overseas sales of steel pipes used in energy sectors boosted South Korea’s steel pipes exports in the given period of time.
In the first five months of this year, the sales of steel pipes for use in energy sector surged by 35.3% year on year to 765,291 tons, accounting for 66.8% of the country’s total steel pipe overseas sales.
Also, the exports of line pipes increased by 27.7% to 444,681 tons; that of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) surged by 47.5% to 320,610 tons, both compared to that in the same period of the previous year.
