Japan’ stainless steel exports rise by 6.5% m-o-m in May

According to data released by the Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF), Japan exported 95,183 tons of stainless steel in May, rising by 6.5% from a month earlier.
In May, the country’s exports stainless steel to China and South Korea rose slightly by 0.5% respectively; that to Taiwan decreased by 41.8%; that to the US increased by 6% and that to Thailand surged by 19.7%, all compared to figures in a month earlier.
The export values generated by stainless steel amounted to US$438.72 million in May. The average prices were at US$4,243/ton, increasing by 9.2% month on month.
