Taiwan’s scrap imports soar by 22.6% m-o-m in April
|
According to statistics, Taiwan imported 496,000 tons of scraps in April, rising by 11.2% year on year and increasing by 22.6% from a month earlier.
Among them, 311,000 tons were imported from the US, increasing by 16%; 33,000 tons were from South Africa, surging substantially by 617.3%; 31,000 tons were from Hong Kong, down by 6.2%; 17,000 tons were from Australia, soaring by 154.2%, all compared to that in the same period of a year earlier.
In the first four months of this year, Taiwan’s scrap imports totaled 1.71 million tons, declining by 7.4% year on year.
In the given period of time, the US was the largest scrap exporter to Taiwan with 1.012 million tons, up by 0.7%; Hong Kong was the second largest one with 121,000 tons, reducing by 16.4%; Australia was the third largest one with 59,000 tons falling by 12.3%; South Africa was the fourth largest one with 51,000 tons, surging by 213.2%, all compared to that in the same period of a year earlier.
