South Korea’s May steel product imports fall by 10.2% y-o-y

According to data released by the Korea Iron & Steel Association (KOSA), South Korea imported 3.124 million tons of steel products in May, falling by 10.2% year on year while increasing by 1.6% from a month earlier.
In May, the country’s steel products imported from Asian countries totaled 2.43 million tons, rising by 2.7% year on year, acquiring about 80% of the country’s total imports of steel products.
China was the largest exporter of steel products to South Korea with 1.134 million tons in May, falling by 4.1% year on year.
In the first five months of this year, South Korea imported 14.92 million tons of steel products, decreasing by 5.4% year on year.
