Taiwanese stainless steel market to remain quiet this week

Reportedly, the Taiwanese stainless steel producers such as Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco) and Tang Eng announced to cut the July prices in response the weak nickel price at LME.
Last week, Yusco announced to cut the export prices of stainless steel by US$30~US$50/ton, which was the fifth consecutive price cut since this year. However, the downstream industry hoped the mill to cut the price by NT$3500/ton (US$118/ton).
As the price cut is below the market’s expectation, industry sources predicted that the market situation might remain sluggish this week.
