Reportedly, the major stainless steel producers in the US including ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA, North American Stainless (NAS), AK Steel and Allegheny Technologies Inc. (ATI) have all announced to cut the alloy surcharge for stainless steel products for July.
The average alloy surcharge for 304 grade stainless steel coils decreased to US$0.80/lb. from US$0.85/lb.; that for 316 grade dropped to US$1.17/lb. from US$1.23/lb.; that for 430 grade decreased to US$0.25/lb. from US$0.28/lb.
It’s analyzed that the alloy surcharge price cut for July is mainly caused by the falling nickel prices.
