US’s May stainless steel imports surge by 18.7% m-o-m

According to preliminary data of the US Census Bureau, the US’s imports of stainless steel products totaled 112,078 tons in May, surging substantially by 18.7% from 94,455 tons in a month earlier.
Among them, the imports of stainless bloom, billet and slab totaled 14,936 tons, soaring sharply by 60.7%; that of discrete plate was at 9,868 tons, rising by 37.4%; that of stainless OCTG was at 3,858 tons, increasing by 116.5%, all compared to that in a month ago.
Meanwhile, the imports of stainless hot rolled coil totaled 11,783 tons, rising by 34.3% month on month.
