Malaysia’s Q1 scrap imports up by 1.2% y-o-y

According to data, Malaysia imported 362,000 tons of scraps in the first quarter of this year, rising by 1.2% year on year.
Among them, 98,000 tons were from the US, increasing by 7.6%; 95,000 tons were from Singapore, soaring by 61.8%; 30,000 tons were from South Africa, slumping by 68.4% and 26,000 tons were from the UK, jumping significantly by 352.6%, all compared to that in the same period of a year ago.
In March alone, the country’s scrap imports declined by 19.1% from a month earlier to 86,000 tons.
