Japan’s April shipments of HR steel flat products fall from March
|
According to statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), the country’s shipments of hot rolled (HR) steel plates and sheets totaled 965,014 tons in April, decreasing by 12% from a month earlier and falling by 5% year on year.
Among them, 71% of shipments were for the domestic market and 29% were for the export markets.
In April, the country’s shipments of HR strips totaled 1.1 million tons, falling by 26% month on month while rising by 5% year on year. Among them, 27% were made to domestic market and 73% were for overseas markets.
Meanwhile, the average domestic prices of HR steel plates and sheets were at ￥83,000/ton in April, keeping flat from a month earlier while dropping by ￥5,000/ton year on year; that of HR steel strips was at ￥66,000/ton, remaining unchanged from the previous month wile decreasing by ￥9,000/ton year on year.
