Latin America’s crude steel output falls by 6% y-o-y in May
|
According to the data from Latin American steel association Alacero, the total crude steel output in Latin America dropped by 6% year on year in May, especially in Brazil and Argentina, the two major economies.
The total output was 5.75 million tons, which was also lower than 5.79 million tons of production in April.
Brazil’s crude steel output fell by 12% to 2.88million; Argentina’s crude steel production dropped 8% to 458,000 tons and Venezuela’s crude steel output declined by 28% to 197,000 tons, all compared to that in the same period of a year earlier.
However, Mexico’s steel output rose by 7% year on year to 1.64 million tons.
