US’s April scrap exports fall by 16.2% y-o-y

According to statistics, the US exported 1.894 million tons of scraps in April, falling by 16.2% year on year and decreasing by 12.1% from a month earlier.
Among them, 618,000 tons were exported to Turkey, surging by 71.1%; 301,000 tons were to Taiwan, decreasing by 3.6%; 213,000 tons were to South Korea, declining by 52.2% and 179,000 tons were to China, reducing by 58.3%, all compared to that in the same period of a year earlier.
In the first four months of this year, the country’s scrap exports totaled 7.332 million tons, down by 0.5% year on year.
Accordingly, it’s estimated that the country’s total scrap exports in the full 2012 would reach 22 million tons.
