Japan’s April shipments of CR sheets and strips fall by 20% m-o-m

According to data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), the country’s shipments of cold rolled sheets and strips totaled 516,353 tons in April, falling by 20% from a month earlier while increasing by 11% year on year.
Among them, 52% of the shipments were made to domestic market and the remaining 48% were to the overseas markets.
In April, the country’s inventory of cold rolled sheets and strips dropped by 2% month on month to 672,815 tons and decreasing by 7% year on year.
At the same time, the average domestic prices of cold rolled sheets and strips were at ¥82,000/ton, decreasing b y ¥5,000/ton from the previous month.
Meanwhile, the country’s production of cold rolled sheets and strips totaled 505,584 tons in April, falling by 15% month on month while rising by 8% year on year.
