Oil prices slide further on weak global demand

It is reported that the oil prices dropped further in Asian trade due to worries on weak economic data from the US and China. According to analysts that Brent North Sea crude for July slid by US$0.74 to US$97.69 and New York's main contract, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for July fell by US$0.78 to US$82.45, a price at the same level of last October.
Figures showed that Brent oil prices in May had already dropped by 15% while WTI fell by almost 18%.
