Japan’s scrap imports fall by 57.8% y-o-y in first four months

According to statistics, Japan imported 88,000 tons of scrap in the first four months of this year, falling by 57.8% in comparison of that in the same period of a year earlier.
In the given period of time, South Korea was the largest scrap supplier with 22,000 tons, decreasing by 60%; Thailand was the second largest one with 20,000 tons, rising by 34.3%; the US was the third largest one with 19,000 tons, declining by 66.1% and Taiwan was the fourth largest one with 17,000 tons, reducing by 44.1%, all compared to that in the same period of a year earlier.
In April, Japan’s scrap imports totaled 26,000 tons, decreasing by 66.3% year on year, including 11,000 tons from Thailand and 5,000 tons from South Korea.
