According to forecast made by Aperam South America, Brazil’s stainless steel consumption would not reach the pre-crisis level and the growth rate might slow down to 4% in 2012 from 8% in a year earlier.

In 2011, Brazil’s stainless steel consumption totaled 345,400 tons in 2011, including 305,000 tons of stainless steel flat products and 40,400 tons of stainless steel long products.

Aperam South America indicated that the stainless steel demand from the Brazilian local industry would reduce this year.

However, Aperam South Amercia said that the stainless steel demand in other countries in Latin American would continue to rise in 2012.
