Global stainless steel output expected to rise by 6% in 2012
Germany-based Heinz Pariser Alloy Metals & Steel Market Research said that the global stainless steel production was expected to continue to rise to 36 million tons in 2012, driven by the growth in China and India.

It predicted that the global stainless steel output would rise by 6% in 2012. Among them, China’s stainless steel production would surge to 15.5 million tons, surging by 8.5%; India’s would increase to 2.6 million tons, jumping by 15%, both compared to that in a year earlier.

In 2012, the EU’s stainless steel production may reach 7.7 million tons, up by 1.8%; Japan’s would be at 3.4 million tons, rising by 2.8%; South Korea’s would be at 3.4 million tons, up by 5% and Taiwan’s would be at 3.4 million tons, increasing by 5%, all compared to a year ago.
