Ocean freight rate for Asia to America and Europe routes to increase further

It’s reported that the ocean freight rate for Asia to America and Europe routes will increase further from May 1st, 2012 since the carriers expect to enhance the profits in the peak season.
It’s known that the ocean freight rate for Asia to Western America route will increase by US$500/FEU; that for Asia to Eastern America will rise by US$700/FEU and that for Asia to Europe route will surge by US$400~US$500/ton TEU, all become effective from May 1st, 2012.
In fact, the ocean freight rate for Asia to America route has increased for consecutive four times since this January. The total price hike has reached US$1,600~US$1,700/FEU.
