Ocean freight rate for Asia to America ship route to rise further
|
Reportedly, Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA) suggested its 15 members raise the ocean freight rate for Asia to America ship route by US$400/FEU from April 15th, 2012.
Also, Canada Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (CTSA) suggested its member hike the ocean freight rate for Asia to Canada ship route by US$400/FEU.
Previously, TSA had suggested its members to raise the ocean freight rate for Asia to America ship route by US$300/FEU on March 15th. However, it suggested its members increase the rate further by US$400/FEU from April 15th in response to higher petroleum prices.
TSA stated that its members have been suffering from the narrow margin squeezed by high petroleum prices. Thus, even though they hiked the ocean freight rate in the middle of March, it still can’t help to compensate the losses.
