Transaction prices of Al-killed finished steel wire remain stable in Taiwanese market

Reportedly, the transaction prices of Al-killed finished steel wire have remained stable at NT$29,500~NT$29,800/ton in Taiwanese market in recent one month.
In fact, the transaction prices of Al-killed finished steel wire had ever surged to NT$32,000/ton during last April through last May, driven by strong demand from Taiwanese small screw makers. At that moment, China Steel Corp. (CSC)’s list prices of Al-killed finished steel wire were at NT$31,500/ton.
Nevertheless, since the Taiwanese small screw makers had bad performance in export market in the second half of 2011, the demand for Al-killed finished steel wire have declined accordingly. The transaction prices had dropped to NT$29,500/ton.
For the prospect, industry sources indicated that the transaction prices of Al-killed finished steel wire may face difficulty to rise further in Taiwanese steel market as the upstream steel mills do not hike the list prices further.
