NSSC hikes domestic prices of austenitic wire rod for March-May contract

Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless (NSSC), the largest stainless producer in Japan announced to hike the domestic prices of its austenitic wire rods by ¥20,000/ton for March-May contracts in response to higher nickel prices in the calculation period.
However, the company remained the prices for ferritic wire rods unchanged for March-May contract.
The nickel prices averaged at US$8.97/lb. in the calculation period from December 21st, 2010 through March 25th, 2012, increasing by US$0.76/lb. from the previous three months.
