South Korea’s February scrap imports surge by 31% m-o-m

According to statistics, South Korea’s scrap imports totaled 895,000 tons in February, surging by 44.8% year on year and rising by 30.5% from a month earlier.
Meanwhile, it is first time that South Korea’s scrap imports reach 890,000 tons level October 2009.
Among them, 441,000 tons were imported from Japan, increasing by 21.6%; 264,000 tons were from the US, surging by 116.3%; 70,000 tons were from Russia, rising by 50.5%, all compared to that in a same period of last year.
In the first two months of this year, South Korea’s scrap imports totaled 1.58 million tons, up by 49.3% year on year.
Among them, 738,000 tons were imported from Japan, up by 26.9%; 472,000 tons were from the US, increasing by 127.7%; 132,000 tons were from Russia, up by 47.6%, all compared to that in a same period of last year.
