Latin America’s crude steel outputs up by 5.6% y-o-y in first two months of 2012
According to data released from Latin American steel association (Alacero), the crude steel output in Latin America reached 11.3 million tons in first two months of 2012, increasing by 5.6% year on year.

Among them, Mexico’s crude steel output totaled 5.8 million tons in February, rising by 18% in comparison to that in the same period of 2011.

The total crude steel production in Brazil and Mexico acquired 79% of the regional crude steel production in the first two months.

Meanwhile, Latin American’s the finished steel trade deficit in January was 1.2 million tons, increasing by 500,000 tons of deficit in January.

During January and February, the finished steel output in Latin America totaled 9.1 million tons. Among them, the production decreased in Argentina, Trinidad and Tobago.
