Gerdau invests US$40 million in new plant in Colombia
|
Colombian steelmaker Diaco, subsidiary company of Brazilian giant Gerdau, started its production lines this month with investment around US$40 million.
This investment is meant to improve the equipment left by previous owner of the plant, Sidelpa, and environment requirements in order to compliant with international standard of quality.
The new plant is able to provide 240,000 tons a year if it is 100% operated, only for local market.
It’s known that the revenue of steel industry in Colombia was growing 12.3% last year.
Diaco has other 4 steel factories in Colombia, besides, some others service centers that provide different steel products such as steel bars, cut steel and angle steel.
