Turkey’s January crude steel production up by 14.4% y-o-y

According to data released the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association, Turkey produced 3.13 million tons of crude steel in January, increasing by 14.4% year on year and up by 0.7% from a month earlier.
Among them, the crude steel production from electric arc furnaces totaled 2.34 million tons, rising by 14%; that from blast furnace was amounted to 791,000 tons, increasing by 15.3%, both compare to that in the same period of 2011.
In January, Turkey’s output of steel billet totaled 2.37 million tons, surging by 15.7%; that of slab was 763,000 tons, rising by 10.4%, both compared to that in January, 2011.
