Turkey’s 2011 seamless stainless steel pipe imports surge by 16.6%

According to statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported 19,221 tons of seamless stainless steel pipes in last December, surging by 56.85% from a month earlier and increasing by 2.2% year on year.
In last December, the country’s import values of seamless stainless steel pipes amounted to US$34.20 million, soaring by 52.2% month on month while decreasing by 36.4% year on year.
In 2011, Turkey imported 235,736 tons of seamless stainless steel pipes, soaring by 16.6% year on year.
Among them, 76,462 tons were from China, up by 14.3% and 41,339 tons were from Russia, decreasing by 8.6%, both compared to that in a year earlier.
