Japan’s stainless steel imports up by 13% in 2011

According to statistics released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI), Japan imported 189,263 tons of stainless steel in 2011, soaring by 13% in comparison of that in the same period of a year earlier.
Among them, the imports of stainless steel flat products increased by 13.5%; that of stainless steel welded pipes surged by 33.4%; that of stainless steel seamless pipes rose by 30.3%; that of stainless steel bar hiked by 9.8% and that of stainless steel wire was up by 10.1%, all compared to that in a year earlier.
