Turkey’s stainless steel plate imports up by 7% in 2011

According to statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported 30,553 tons of stainless steel plates in last December, up by 12% from a month earlier and increasing by 3.5% year on year.
In last December, the country’s import figures of stainless steel plate totaled US$82.70 million, up by 0.4% month on month while decreasing by 2.8% year on year.
In 2011, Turkey imported 354,498 tons of stainless steel plates, rising by 7.2% year on year.
Among them, 83,154 tons were from Taiwan, rising by 12.5%; 48,453 tons were from South Korea, up by 8.4% and 39,058 tons were from Germany, decreasing by 17.8%, all compared to that in a year earlier.
