NSSC to cut stainless CRC production capacity at Kashima works
|
It’s reported that Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Corp. (NSSC), the largest stainless steelmaker in Japan decided to cut the production of stainless cold rolled coil (CRC) at its Kashima works by 15%~20% from April 2012.
It’s said that the firm decided to cut the capacity at Kashima plant to decline the fixed costs and adjust operations due to lower demand from domestic market and weak performance in export market caused by strong yen.
NSSC stated that it won’t shut down any facility but only adjust the operation hours. Also, it won’t lay off any workers in Kashima works.
The company previously owned around 150 thousand tons of stainless CRC capacity at Kashima works.
