US’s June trade deficit hits highest level since October, 2008

According to report of the US Department of Commerce (DOC), the US’s June trade deficit hit the highest level of US$53.1 billion since October, 2008, up by 4.4% in comparison of US$50.8 billion in May.
In addition, the country’s export figures dropped to US$170.9 billion in June, down by US$4.1 billion from US$175 billion in May. Also, its import value was US$223.9 billion in June, US$1.9 billion less than that in May.
Meanwhile, according to data released by Statistics Canada, the country’s June trade deficit touched the highest level of CAD1.04 billion in the past nine months because of a drop in energy and automotive exports.
Canada’s export figures in June declined by 1.7% from a month earlier to CAD36.5 billion and its imports value decreased by 0.2% m-o-m to CAD38 million.
