Zambia copper output to rise
|
Standard Chartered Bank estimates the copper production in Zambia will be higher than 700,000 tons in 2010.
The bank said, because of the huge investment for mine expansion project in Zambia in 2009, the mining sector expanded by 21.4 percent, but the bank also warned that the uncertainty of taxation will force mining companies to reduce their investment activities.
Zambia started to impose mining windfall tax in 2008, but the tax had been canceled when the price decreased in 2009.
