Russia suggests higher duty on stainless steel pipe
|
Russian Trade Commission and Tariff Policy Committee has suggested the government to levy a 39 percent special duty on imported stainless steel tubes.
Currently the tariff rate varies from 8 percent to 28 percent according to the different sizes of imported stainless steel tubes. China, Brazil, Japan and European Union countries are the main exporters of stainless steel tubes to Russia.
According to Ukraine pipe makers, the decision conflicts with the Russian law and the principles of WTO and Practices on Affairs of International Trade. Besides, the price of Chinese stainless steel tubes is much lower than other makers.
